One fucked up horror picture

I went into this movie thinking this will be a great horror film. I will admit I had never heard of Ti West before, so I went in as fresh as I could be.

Acting - You don’t go to these types of movies to watch great acting, you want to be scared, and I wasn’t scared so much as I was tense, until the plot develops and character arcs happen, which just left me like…that was okay.

Story - This story is cool, a group of adult filmmakers rent a barn to shoot their dirty movie and realize that there is more to the old couple they rent the barn from. Bodies start to pile up and there is no real mystery as to who is killing them. This isn’t a who done it picture, but a how are they going to get away with it, type movie. Another thing this movie does, is tell it from reverse, the whole movie is a flashback, which does spoil some of the surprises, so you know a few of the moves the movie is going to make before it makes them, which is upsetting.

Cinematography - it’s average, but its a wonderful homage to 70’s Grindhouse films and you can tell it was made by people who love those movies.

Editing - Does it’s job.

Directing - Ti west the director is better than Ti West the writer, his actions are quick, his camera choices are inspired, he’s not afraid to push the envelope.
